Jury duty

陪審員候補に選定された通知が届きました

月曜日午前8時から候補者の面接が始まります

I've received a jury summons. 
The interview process will start at 8 AM, Monday.

たぶん、わたしが選任される可能性は低いと思いますが、もし選任されても通常2～4日で終了するらしいです

でも、なにしろ　今一番忙しい時期、

万がいちの時のためにクリスマスショッピングは全てオンラインで済ませました

ギフトラップも郵送も各業者にお願いして、ちょっと味気ないですがこれで肩の荷が下りた気分です

I think the chances are slim for me to be selected, and I'm told that a typical trial will end in two to four days. 

Still, this is a crazy busy time.
I have finished my Christmas shopping on-line, having various companies wrap and send the gifts for me -just in case I'm not able to do so.
It sounds awfully impersonal, doesn't it?  I feel guilty and relived at the same time.

裁判所はセキュリティーがとても厳しいので入場の際トラブルのないようにハンドバッグの中を整理しました

取り出したのはミニ裁縫道具、テープメジャー、かぎ針等

棒針、かぎ針は持ち込めませんから、長い待ち時間編み物ができません・・ガッカリ

ドレスコードはビジネスカジュアル、でもジーンズはOKとのことです

ユニフォームは着てこないこと、香水など香りの強いものをつけてこないこと（アレルギーの人もいるから）と指示されています

The security in the courthouse is very strict.  I have cleaned my purse and removed a sawing kit, a tape measure, and a crochet hook.
I can't knit while I wait (probably all day) since knitting needles are prohibited in the building.  sigh...
They request business casual attire, but jeans are okay. 
We are told not to wear a uniform, nor wear perfume as some people are highly allergic.
