edible garden

Oct. 2012

I didn't have a chance to talk about it last October,
but I was busy slicing three large red cabbage heads one day before I left for Japan.
I could not imagine my husband cooking red cabbages for himself (or for anyone).
I made a few batches of "Braised red cabbages with apples" in a hurry and froze them.

I looked back my files and saw how I did in the edible garden last year.

  • I lost cucumbers and zucchinis.
  • Many fruits were bruised, but still edible.
  • The radishes just didn't want to grow.  Radishes?!
  • The peppers grew better with wind protections.
  • I found out that I CAN grow melons!
  • All in all not bad for having two major hail storms.

I would like to try new vegetables and expand my edibles this year.
My kitchen garden reminds me not to harm the land with chemicals, especially when I harvest them.

Have you seen the veggie prices lately?!
Lets hope for a great season!

  5. Lovely edibles! Do you have a separate vegetable garden. . . or do you plant edibles among your perennials? I have tried containers, but find they don't produce well . . . and I don't have a good place for an actual vegetable garden. :-)

  6. Thank you, Kym♪
I do have a separate area for vegetables, but it's not very big.
Consequently, I'm having a hard time rotating them.
I'd love to make more raised beds for them.

I hope you can find a place for edibles in your garden.
    They are so satisfying!
